#UnderOurSun

What stories did your grandparents pass down to you?
Where does your history show up in the food on your table?
When your life stretches across continents, what does “home” really mean?

We invite you to share your story.
Post your memories, reflections, and experiences on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok @under_our_sun.

Because when we tell our stories, something powerful happens.

They begin to connect.
They fill in the gaps history left behind.
They remind us that we are more intertwined than we realize.

Across time, place, and culture, our voices come together.
Not as fragments, but as something whole.

This is how we build understanding.
This is how we find each other.
This is how we move forward.

Campaign Goals

Build Community

Amplify our unique cultural stories to spark awareness of how deeply connected we are.

Shift Perception

Reframe how we think about migration, belonging, and mixed heritage.

Use Media with Purpose

Harness social platforms to create meaningful storytelling.

The Inspiration

Named one of Nonfics’ Top 20 documentaries, The Bengali takes an American woman to India to uncover her grandfather’s past. A personal search becomes a deeper exploration of culture, memory, and identity, revealing how histories travel and families form across unexpected places.

Why It Matters

The multiracial population in the U.S. grew 276% over the past decade, reflecting a rapidly evolving sense of identity.

Over 280 million people globally live outside their country of birth, shaping culture, economies, and communities.

Much of our history still lives in oral storytelling, at risk of being lost without intentional preservation.

Her films such as The Bengali, One Hand Don’t Hand Clap, Wild at Art --- have reached broad global audiences. A Fulbright Fellow and founder of riverfilms, her TEDx talk reflects her enduring belief stories matter.

Impact Campaign Producer Megha Kadakia bridges storytelling and social change. Co-founder of the South Asian-led production company Prism, she was Co-Executive Producer on the Oscar-nominated To Kill A Tiger. She developed strategic media initiatives at Creative Visions and Walt Disney Studios.

Campaign Advisor Punita Khanna is co-author of Mixed Desis, an anthology about multiracial South Asians. Her own family reflects that evolving American landscape.
